Glucosamine Hydrochloride
Also known as: glucosamine HCl, glucosamine hydrochloride, D-glucosamine HCl
The hydrochloride salt of glucosamine, which is more concentrated and more stable than the sulfate form and therefore cheaper per milligram of glucosamine. It is widely used in North American joint products, often alongside chondroitin and MSM. A meta-analysis comparing preparations found that the hydrochloride form did not outperform placebo for joint symptoms, whereas the sulfate form did, so it is generally considered the weaker-evidence option.
