Tongkat Ali Root Extract

Botanicalhormone supportModerate dose evidence

Also known as: Eurycoma longifolia, longjack, Malaysian ginseng, pasak bumi, LJ100

Add to a formula

A root extract from a Southeast Asian shrub used in men's vitality, stress, and libido formulas. A four-week randomized trial of a standardized root extract in moderately stressed adults reported lower cortisol, higher testosterone, and improved mood-state scores. Commercial extracts are sold either as a 100:1 water extract or standardized to eurycomanone, and quality differs sharply between them, so the standardization should be specified rather than the ratio alone.

Research summary

Quassinoids such as eurycomanone are proposed to increase free testosterone by reducing sex hormone-binding globulin and to moderate cortisol under stress.
