Hesperidin is the main flavanone glycoside of orange peel and is the principal component of most citrus bioflavonoid complexes. It is used in cardiovascular, vein, and antioxidant formulas and is frequently combined with diosmin or rutin. Trials in adults have mainly used 500 mg per day as isolated hesperidin. Like rutin, it is released as its aglycone hesperetin by gut bacteria before absorption, and glucosyl-hesperidin is a more soluble modified form.
