Molybdenum Glycinate

Molybdenum chelated with glycine, one of the forms NIH ODS lists for supplements along with sodium molybdate and molybdenum chloride, with no comparative bioavailability data among them. Molybdenum is a cofactor for four human enzymes involved in sulfite, purine, and aldehyde metabolism, which is why it appears in liver-support and sulfur-metabolism formulas. Requirements are tiny, dietary deficiency is essentially unknown, and supplements usually add 50–150 mcg.

Doses are micrograms of elemental molybdenum. Molybdenum bis-glycinate stoichiometry (Mo 95.95 with two glycinates, MW ≈ 244) gives about 39% Mo, but commercial chelates are supplied as diluted premixes; raw_material_mg_per_dose_unit = 0.1 mg per mcg assumes a 1% premix — verify against the supplier's certificate of analysis. Adult RDA 45 mcg. ODS reports supplement amounts of about 50–500 mcg. Turnlund 1995 studied intakes from 22 to 1,490 mcg/day in young men with no adverse effects. Take with food.
