Cinnamon Water Extract (Cinnulin PF)
Also known as: Cinnulin PF, water-soluble cinnamon extract, cinnamon type-A polymers, Cinnulin
A branded water-soluble extract of cinnamon bark concentrated for type-A polyphenol polymers and largely free of the fat-soluble coumarins and volatile oils found in whole bark. It allows cinnamon to be dosed in the hundreds of milligrams rather than grams. A twelve-week randomized trial at 500 mg per day in adults with prediabetes reported lower fasting glucose and systolic blood pressure and a small gain in lean mass. It is the usual choice when cinnamon must fit into a capsule blend.
Research summary
Type-A polymers are proposed to enhance insulin receptor signaling and glucose uptake in cells.
Dosage
Daily amounts, of extract.
| Lowest studied | Typical range | Highest studied | Upper limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| — | 250–500 mg | 500 mg | — |
250 to 500 mg per day, usually 250 mg twice daily with meals. The published trial used 500 mg per day for twelve weeks. Roughly a 20:1 concentrate, so 500 mg corresponds to about 10 g of bark.
Standardization: 20:1 water extract standardized to type-A polymers
Source material: bark aqueous extract
