Olive leaf extract is prepared from the leaves of Olea europaea and standardized to oleuropein, the bitter secoiridoid that also gives olive oil part of its character. It is used in cardiovascular, immune, and antioxidant formulas and is commonly paired with hawthorn or CoQ10 in heart-support blends. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized trials have examined its effects on blood pressure and other cardiometabolic markers, and several trials used 500 to 1,000 mg of extract daily.
