Trace Mineral Concentrate (Ionic)

A generic descriptor for low-sodium mineral concentrates made by solar-evaporating inland sea or seawater brine, leaving a liquid or dried powder rich in magnesium chloride with smaller amounts of potassium, sulfate, lithium, boron, and dozens of other elements. These concentrates are added to electrolyte drinks and hydration powders as a broad-spectrum mineral base. Composition is entirely supplier-specific, so the magnesium and sodium contribution must be pulled from the certificate of analysis for label math.

Doses are milligrams of concentrate (liquid or dried powder), not of any single mineral. There is no standard composition; liquid concentrates such as the referenced supplier product are dosed by the milliliter (about 1–2.5 mL per serving), and dried powders used in electrolyte blends are commonly included at 100–500 mg per serving. Magnesium typically dominates (a 2.5 mL liquid serving can carry over 200 mg magnesium), so add the supplier's magnesium value to the formula's magnesium total against the 350 mg supplemental UL. No human trials of these concentrates were located.

Liquids are intensely bitter and salty, so they are dosed in drops or masked in flavored beverages. Dried concentrates are very hygroscopic and cake readily; use anti-caking agents and low-humidity packaging.
