Aloe vera inner leaf extract is the dried, decolorized gel of Aloe barbadensis, supplied as a 200:1 concentrate so that 50 to 200 mg represents 10 to 40 g of fresh gel. Its main constituents are polysaccharides, notably acemannan. It is used in digestive comfort, skin, and glucose-support formulas. Meta-analyses have examined oral aloe in irritable bowel and glycemic studies. Inner-leaf material must be processed to remove aloin and other anthraquinones; non-decolorized whole-leaf extract is a different, laxative material.
