Bifidobacterium bifidum
Also known as: B. bifidum, MIMBb75, Bb-06, BF-688
Bifidobacterium bifidum is a mucin-degrading species that is abundant in breast-fed infants and declines with age. The strain MIMBb75 was tested in a multicenter randomized trial in irritable bowel syndrome at 1 billion CFU daily, with a later trial using heat-inactivated cells. It is a common component of multi-strain blends for digestive comfort and immune support. B. bifidum is less oxygen-tolerant than B. lactis, so it is usually included at modest counts with adequate overage and moisture protection.

Raw-material weight assumes a 100 billion CFU/g concentrate (10 mg per billion CFU); manufacturers add a 20–50% CFU overage at fill so the label claim holds through shelf life, and the label should state whether CFU are guaranteed at manufacture or at expiry.
