Bifidobacterium longum

Bifidobacterium longum is one of the dominant bifidobacteria of the adult human colon. The Japanese strain BB536 has decades of use in dairy and supplements and has been tested in randomized trials for immune cell activation in healthy adults and for gut environment and stool outcomes. Other strains, such as 1714 and Rosell-175, are marketed for stress and mood. It is used in daily gut-support and immune blends and is among the more robust Bifidobacterium species for freeze-drying. Strain identity determines which studies apply.
