Curcumin with Turmeric Essential Oils (BCM-95)
Also known as: BCM-95, Curcugreen, Biocurcumax, curcumin with turmerones
A branded turmeric extract that recombines curcuminoids with turmeric essential oil (turmerones) rather than using a synthetic carrier. A pilot crossover study reported higher curcumin bioavailability than plain extract and a curcumin-lecithin-piperine combination. It has been used in trials on mood and joint comfort, and it appeals to formulators who want a whole-turmeric, excipient-free positioning with better absorption than 95% extract.
Research summary
Turmerones in the essential oil fraction appear to improve curcuminoid absorption and slow clearance, increasing time in circulation.
Dosage
Daily amounts, of extract.
| Lowest studied | Typical range | Highest studied | Upper limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| — | 500–1,000 mg | — | — |
500 mg once or twice daily, usually with food. The extract is roughly 86% curcuminoids plus 7 to 9% essential oils, so dosing is close to a 95% extract on a curcuminoid basis. No piperine is required.
Standardization: ≥86% curcuminoids with 7–9% turmeric essential oils
Source material: rhizome extract with essential oil
