Curcumin Ultra-Dispersible (CurcuWIN)

Botanicalanti-inflammatoryBranded: CurcuWIN (OmniActive Health Technologies)Moderate dose evidence

Also known as: CurcuWIN, UltraSol curcumin, water-dispersible curcumin, CurcuWIN Ultra+

Add to a formula

A branded curcumin form that uses a hydrophilic carrier to make curcuminoids water-dispersible. A comparative absorption study in healthy adults reported markedly higher curcuminoid exposure than plain 95% extract and several other enhanced forms. Because the formulation is only about 20% curcuminoids, small doses are used, which makes it attractive for multi-ingredient sports recovery and joint products with limited capsule space.

Research summary

Dispersion of curcuminoids on a hydrophilic carrier increases their solubility in gut fluids, improving absorption and plasma exposure.

Dosage

Daily amounts, of extract.

Lowest studiedTypical rangeHighest studiedUpper limit
250–500 mg

250 to 500 mg per day of the formulation, with or without food. Doses are expressed as the whole formulation, which contains about 20% curcuminoids. Because it disperses in water, it is workable in stick packs and ready-to-mix powders.

Standardization: 20% curcuminoids on a hydrophilic carrier

Source material: curcumin extract with water-dispersible carrier

As supplied: Approximately 20% curcuminoids by weight
