Curcumin Solid Lipid Particle (Longvida)

Botanicalanti-inflammatoryBranded: Longvida (Verdure Sciences)Moderate dose evidence

Also known as: Longvida, solid lipid curcumin particle, SLCP, Longvida Optimized Curcumin

Add to a formula

A branded curcumin formulation in which curcumin is embedded in solid lipid particles to protect it from degradation in the gut and support delivery of free curcumin into circulation. A pharmacokinetic study in healthy volunteers detected plasma curcumin after 650 mg of the formulation where an equal dose of plain 95% extract was undetectable. It is positioned for cognitive and mood formulas as well as joint products, and doses are lower than for plain extract.

Research summary

Lipid encapsulation improves curcumin stability and absorption, raising free curcumin exposure compared with unformulated extract.

Dosage

Daily amounts, of extract.

Lowest studiedTypical rangeHighest studiedUpper limit
400–800 mg

400 to 800 mg per day, typically as one or two capsules with or without food. The formulation is about 20 to 26% curcumin by weight. Pharmacokinetic work has evaluated single doses of 650 mg in healthy adults and larger daily amounts in patient populations.

Standardization: 20–26% curcumin in solid lipid particles

Source material: curcumin extract in lipid matrix

As supplied: Approximately 20–26% curcumin by weight
